At Inszone Insurance Services, we believe that investing in our local communities is just as important as the work we do in the office. Through our Charitable Time Off (CTO) program, Inszone employees are given paid time off to volunteer and support the non-profit organizations that mean the most to them. This month, we are proud to highlight Tina McClary, who used her CTO to volunteer at Tulsa Oktoberfest!

Tulsa Oktoberfest, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to produce a celebration of German culture that benefits Tulsa and its River Parks. Proceeds support the River Parks Authority, which manages trails and green space along the Arkansas River for the whole community to enjoy.

Patterned after the original Munich Oktoberfest, the festival is an authentic celebration of Bavarian culture that has been running since 1979. An event of this size depends on a small army of volunteers, many of whom work full days to keep everything running.

That is where Tina comes in. On October 23rd, she worked in the Extended Duty Tent, known as the EDT, which feeds the volunteers who are on site all day. Tina kept the dining tent clean and stocked, tracked the number of meals served using a scanner or manual count, helped volunteers get their to-go meals ready, and pitched in at the cook tent between rushes. By her count, the EDT served 2,871 meals over the course of this year’s festival.

Tina’s history with Tulsa Oktoberfest goes back four decades. She started in 1986 checking IDs and went on to serve for several years as ID vice-chair or chair. She has also poured and served beer for the public and worked in Volunteer Hospitality before joining the EDT in 2001, where she has stayed ever since.

Over all those years, the festival has become about more than the event itself. For Tina, it is where she has built lasting relationships with the people she volunteers alongside year after year.

We are incredibly proud of Tina for 40 years of dedication to an event that gives so much back to Tulsa. Thank you, Tina, for representing Inszone’s core values and keeping the volunteers who make the festival possible well fed!

If you are an Inszone employee interested in participating in the CTO program, please contact HR to learn more about how you can get involved.
