Joan Burkett is a Senior Commercial Lines Insurance Specialist at Inszone Insurance Services, joining the company in November 2024 after the merger with Loft & Co. Joan’s insurance career spans over four decades, beginning in 1983 when she founded Insurance Town & Country, which she owned until 2024. During her career, she earned her Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 1989, showcasing her dedication to professional growth and expertise in commercial lines. Joan’s vast experience in running her own agency has given her a comprehensive understanding of the industry, which she brings to her role at Inszone.
Joan is deeply passionate about giving back to communities, both locally and internationally. Since 2002, she has worked extensively in Haiti, where she has been involved in various projects, including microloans, the establishment of a vocational school, village savings and loans, and supporting 50 churches, 50 schools, and two orphanages. Her work in Haiti also contributed to a tilapia project, which has helped provide much-needed protein for local diets. Joan’s commitment to improving lives through meaningful work is a driving force in her career.
In her free time, Joan enjoys reading, gardening, and walking.

Joan is fantastic and has been helping us with insurance for our business for years. She even helped us this year when our payroll system stopped allowing us to do a custom contribution scheme for our employee health care, so we had to scramble and do open enrollment in 2 weeks! Joan worked with our insurer to make sure we could continue that custom contribution scheme and also helped us through the much more labor-intensive process of doing open enrollment directly with the insurer.
