This month, please join us in congratulating Jacqui Brown, our Employee Spotlight for the month of July!
Jacqui is a Senior Commercial Lines Account Manager at Inszone Insurance Services and holds a bachelor’s degree of Fine Arts in Design from the University of Michigan. She has been in the commercial insurance industry for almost 17 years, with 2 of those years being devoted to personal insurance. Jacqui started her insurance career with Travelers and worked on getting her master’s in business administration in accounting. In 2013, she went back to the insurance space and worked with multiple companies, with a focus on both personal and commercial lines insurance, until she decided to join Inszone in August 2021.
Jacqui came from a big Catholic family. She was number seven of eight children. She has always enjoyed being around a lot of people. She has three children and four grandchildren. She will be a first-time great grandmother in a few months. Her daughter lives in Hong Kong and will be coming to visit in August. She has yet to meet her three-year-old grandson and she is so excited to finally meet him.
One of the interesting facts on Jacqui is both of her parents were first- generation born in the USA. She took one of those DNA tests and she is 75% Scotch-Irish, 23% French and 2% Eastern European. Her father’s parents spoke French in their house. She has black hair, and her sister has red hair. They are definitely look Irish. Jacqui spent most of her leisure time with her pets. She has a Border Collie, two cats – one tiger, one Siamese and three chickens. “They all get along, as long as I am present”. Jacqui said.
To get to know more about Jacqui, we asked her a couple of question about her and her time in the insurance world:
Q: Tell us about your start in the Insurance Industry?
A: I started with Commercial insurance in April 2005 with Travelers Insurance. I knew nothing about insurance, but they were very good trainers! I went on to work to in personal lines at Shaefer Agency where I met my current Producer, Ann-Marie DelMonte. I left there for another Commercial Insurance job. As of August 2nd this year, I will have been with INSZONE for a year!
Q: What has been one of your proudest moments in the insurance world?
A: I have many proud moments in the insurance world and cannot choose one. Anytime I can help someone is a proud moment.
Q: If you were not in insurance, what would you like to be doing?
A: I would like to be a community college-level Mathematics Professor. I love Calculus, Geometry, Algebra, – all of it. I know how important it is to have a good teacher. I’ve had good and bad in my college days. Q: What is your career goal?
A: To continue to exceed expectations; continue to learn; continue to grow relationships with my customers; continue to be as helpful as I can.
Q: If you could sit down with your younger self, what is one piece of advice you would share?
A: Know that the world is full of many types of people. You cannot change anyone; you can only change yourself. Don’t get caught up in office politics – it’s just noise.
Q: What’s something you do outside of work that would surprise your co-workers and clients?
A: It’s all about my animals. Chickens are awesome!
Q: What quote keeps you inspired in your day-to-day life?
A: My Mantra – Work hard; Play hard – There must be balance in all things.
