Here at Inszone, one of our missions is to make sure that every employee is appreciated, acknowledged, and recognized for their achievements. This Employee Spotlight series aims to celebrate success and highlight the talented individuals we have at Inszone, Cover Cannabis, and California Pool Association. Each month we’ll be featuring Inszone employees on our website, blog and social accounts.
Leyton Peterson is a Senior Commercial Insurance Specialist at Inszone Insurance Services, joining the team in 2022. He began his career in the insurance industry at an early age, guided by his father, and has since been dedicated to the field. Growing up in a large, competitive household, Leyton thrives on the challenges presented by new accounts, approaching them with the same enthusiasm as he would a game.
When asked to share some words about Leyton, David Schuster, who is Inszone’s Commercial Property Team Manager, said, “Leyton needs no introduction. Everyone that has been at Inszone long enough to receive the daily “Sales Stats” email will recognize his name from the top spot on the leaderboard. What people may not know is how Leyton consistently shows up there. And consistency is the key. Leyton consistently provides his clients top notch service by being available and responsive. Leyton consistently seeks to expand his product and market knowledge by remaining curious and always learning. Leyton consistently fills his pipeline with opportunity by being phone first and always on the hunt. I’m extremely privileged that I get to work with Leyton and witness his strong work ethic and wonderful character.”
To get to know more about Leyton, we asked him a couple of questions about him and his time in the insurance world:
Q: Can you share a particular challenging situation you faced in your career and how you overcame it?
A: I was given the opportunity to quote a several thousand apartment unit portfolio that spanned several states. Nobody in my office had ever placed coverage for a portfolio of this size so I had to learn about different areas, types of systems and risk appetites while negotiating with different carriers and communicating with the client. I successfully placed that account and gained confidence in my abilities to handle more complex risks.
Q: If you could describe your approach to teamwork in three words, what would they be and why?
A:
- Responsiveness – Helping my teammates with something as soon as I can allows all of us to operate more efficiently.
- Understanding – Everyone makes mistakes, me included. What’s important is that we determine the best way to resolve an issue with poise.
- Support – I want everyone working with me to feel comfortable discussing any issues they’re having. Whether it’s a difficult account or just how they’re feeling, I want to be able to help them navigate it.
I would also like to give a shout out to my team members Zheri Hernandez and Sean Adams, who are vital parts to my success. Their dedication, hard work and unwavering support make our team stronger every day. Thank you for everything you do!
Q: What do you think sets you apart, and how does it benefit your team and clients?
A: I like what I do. Finding solutions for problems brings me satisfaction, especially in a tough time like the current hard market. I have intimate knowledge of each company’s appetite that allows me to expedite the quoting process. Also, my team is awesome and excellent at supporting my clients. The preferred coverage and pricing are how I’m able to bring in a client but the customer service from my team is the reason they stay.
Q: Who has been the biggest influence or mentor in your life, and what valuable lessons have you learned from them?
A: My Dad. I was able to learn from my dad and he showed me how to negotiate with companies and provide exemplary service for customers. He gave me the formula to be a successful broker and I applied my own touches on the processes to become as efficient as I could. I would never have gotten to this position without my dad’s mentorship.
Q: What accomplishment are you most proud of in your career so far, and what did it teach you?
A: I’m most proud of the confidence and trust my referral sources have in me. This has been built over several years and has many transactions. Being consistent is extremely important.
Thank you, Leyton, for your dedication and hard work. Your exceptional performance is truly appreciated! You consistently go above and beyond, and we are grateful for your contributions. We look forward to achieving even greater success together!
