Alyssa Hendrickson is a Carrier Integration Team Manager at Inszone Insurance Services. She has been in the insurance industry since 2014. She started her career at an independent insurance agency doing accounting, commercial lines account management and special projects where she led in the implementation of new technologies and efficiency workflows. More recently she worked as an underwriter for a global standard carrier writing mid-size commercial risks. Alyssa has a bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University in Business Administration, a Property & Casualty License, and an Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU) designation. Alyssa loves education and is always looking for new things to learn. Her passions include working with numbers, process efficiency, and helping others develop professionally.
When asked to share some words about Alyssa, Rich Lemon, who is Inszone’s Chief Integration Officer and Alyssa’s direct supervisor, said, “Alyssa has quickly made a significant impact in the Carrier Integration Department and shown an immense capability to handle the varied and detail-oriented tasks involved in working with our carrier partners. Her persistence and follow-up bring the exact amount of attention needed both internally and externally to issues that may arise during the transfer process and her impressive ability to quickly gather a wealth of knowledge based on the carriers’ needs is evident.”
To get to know more about Alyssa, we asked her a couple of questions about her and her time in the insurance world:
Q: How did you get into the carrier integration/insurance industry?
A: I’ve been exposed to the Insurance industry for as long as I can remember growing up in a family insurance agency. After school, I’d hang around the office waiting for my mom to get off work and I’d pass the time by helping stuff envelopes and enter claim info in the system. In high school, I’d help answer phones at the front desk. After graduating high school, I entered direct bill commissions, then began CSR-related work, eventually moving to account management work. I also spent a short time in underwriting mid-size commercial accounts at a well-known standard company. I credit my mom for mentoring me for years and allowing me to work on her complex accounts which solidified my knowledge of policy form, coverage, and markets. My diverse experience in agency processes in accounting, operations, and service angles allowed me to start this new journey on our carrier integration team.
Q: What has been your proudest moment in the insurance world?
A: I’ve always enjoyed teaching others. My proudest moments in the insurance world have been when I’ve been able to share my insurance knowledge and process knowledge with others to help them be more confident in their position.
Q: How would you define success?
A: There are so many different versions of what success is. To me, success is when you’ve stopped searching for “more” and “better” and can be proud of who you are and everything you have going on right now.
Q: What would you like to be doing if you were not in carrier integration/insurance?
A: If not in carrier integration/insurance, my dream job would be a classic cake baker. I’d love crafting unique and delicious cakes. The joy of creating edible art and bringing happiness to people’s lives through my baked treats would make every moment in the bakery fulfilling and enchanting.
Q: How do you balance your career and family?
A: I am honored to have Rich Lemon as my leader, who allows me the flexibility and support to give work and family 100%. I am also a believer in utilizing all your PTO to spend dedicated time with loved ones and as a first-time mom, alone time too.
Q: What do you do in your personal time?
A: I enjoy crafting with friends, spending time outside with my daughter, snuggling my two cats and racing in the desert with my husband.
Q: Can you share with us a personal quote that you live by?
A: Live in the moment because tomorrow is not promised.
Thank you for your dedication and hard work, Alyssa. We are grateful to have you. Again, congratulations!
