Community Spotlight: Dedria Gorden Volunteers at Salem Baptist Church’s Vacation Bible School

At Inszone Insurance Services, we believe that investing in our local communities is just as important as the work we do in the office. Through our Charitable Time Off (CTO) program, Inszone employees are given paid time off to volunteer and support the non-profit organizations that mean the most to them. This month, we are proud to highlight Dedria Gorden, who recently used her CTO to volunteer at Salem Baptist Church’s annual Vacation Bible School! 

Salem Baptist Church, located in Mena, Arkansas, serves its community through a variety of outreach programs. One of the most cherished is its annual Vacation Bible School (VBS), a program dedicated to bringing the children of the community together for several nights of faith, fellowship, and fun. It offers a welcoming space where kids can learn, play, and connect.

This year’s VBS, held from July 21st through July 24th, carried the theme “Emerald Crossing: An Irish Adventure Through Psalm 23.” Throughout the week, children enjoyed music, Bible study, arts and crafts, and plenty of recreation time. Behind the scenes, a dedicated team of volunteers worked to make sure every child felt cared for, and Dedria was right in the middle of it. 

Dedria volunteered in the kitchen, where she and her team prepared a full meal for every child and volunteer in attendance. With more than 100 people to feed each night, it was no small undertaking. For some of the children, this meal was one of the most important parts of their day, and for a few, it may have been their only meal that day. Dedria’s work helped ensure that no child went home hungry.

Dedria’s dedication to Salem Baptist Church runs deep. She has been a member for 17 years and has volunteered with VBS for the past seven, carrying forward a tradition she loved as a child. 

“VBS is something I have always enjoyed going to as a child,” Dedria shared. “If we can bring one person to know Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior during this time, it is time well spent. I enjoy working in the kitchen as I get to see every child every night and be a part of this great mission.”

We are incredibly proud of Dedria for her heartfelt commitment to serving the children of her community. Thank you, Dedria, for representing Inszone’s core values and making a meaningful difference in the lives of so many families!
